Reiki Therapy

In 1922 Reiki was developed by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. Reiki involves the laying hands to channel universal life force energy for healing. Reiki has no religious affiliations but it does have its roots in Eastern healing philosophies. The term Reiki is made of two Japanese words. “Rei”, meaning “God’s Wisdom or the Higher Power” and Ki meaning “life force energy”. Therefore Reiki is in fact “spiritually guided life force energy.”

  • Helps in stress reduction and promotes relaxation

  • Reduces depression and anxiety by changing your mood

  • Increases mobility in case of shoulder pain, wrist pain, lower back pain

  • Heals infections and inflammations

  • Improves indices of metabolic syndrome

  • Treats symptoms associated with cancers

  • Enables emotional clarity and spiritual growth

What is Reiki?

When we hurt ourselves, we intuitively place our hand on the injured spot and the pain is relieved as we unconsciously work with this energy to heal ourselves. Similarly, a child feels better when his or her parent kisses their injured limb better. The parent and the child are working unconsciously with this healing energy.

Reiki is a holistic mode of healing that encompasses work with the body, mind and spirit. Any emotional or physical blocks that lead to someone becoming unwell, are cleared. Reiki is divine in origin and pure unconditional love. Regular Reiki will lead the mind, body and spirit into balance and help promote well-being.

Ancient cultures believed that all living things carried a life force. They are the centres of energy that move inside of us called Chakras.

Most people have heard of seven chakras however there are 114 in the human body. We also have 72,000 “nadis,” or energy channels, along which vital energy, or “prana,” moves.

Chakra is derived from the Hindi word meaning “Wheel of Spinning Energy”. Chakras are like whirling, vortex-like, powerhouses of energy.

Chakras can become blocked when we are stressed or experiencing emotional or physical challenges. If the ‘energy system’ in our bodies do not flow well, this could cause physical illness and discomfort or a sense of being mentally and emotionally out of balance.

Reiki rearranges the body’s chakras, which are the centres connected to major organs or glands that govern the body’s functions. Reiki aims to make the body stable in order to avoid disease.
